Collecting submissions from Instagram

If you’re running a hashtag based UGC contest, or even a video contest with form entry, you can collect submissions from Instagram!

Hashtag Entry

Instagram now requires that you have a Business Profile connected to your Facebook page in order to pull hashtags from the platform. For more information on this update, see this article.
As part of this update, you can now only pull in hashtag posts from the previous 24 hours when importing retroactively.

On the Overview screen of your Photo/Video contest, click the toggle switch to enable hashtag entry from Instagram.

Then type in the required hashtag or hashtags for entry (you can require just one, multiple, or add separate optional hashtags).

Require multiple hashtags

Now, let fans know that they can enter by uploading to Instagram and including your required hashtag(s) in the caption (the entrant’s profile must be public as well).

Video URLs

Since Instagram is one of the accepted platforms for video submissions, entrants can shoot a video on Instagram and then post it with your hashtag (if hashtag entry is enabled) or enter the video URL into the Form Field. Be sure to enable Instagram as a source that you will accept videos from within the settings of the video URL field.
