In this article, you will find a list of the image/design specifications for all of our app pages. As a general rule, the maximum for all images is typically 810 pixels wide by 1200 pixels tall, but some pages have different limits, as you’ll see below.
Fangate Image (Optional)
The maximum width is 810 pixels, height is 1200 pixels, and file size is 400KB. This is the image that will appear on the tab when users have not yet 'Liked' the page.
We generally recommend using the full 810 pixel width and between 500-800 pixels in height to avoid excessive scrolling with most monitor resolutions.
Entry Page / Offer Page Image
The maximum width is 810 pixels, height is 1200 pixels, and file size is 400KB. This is the image fans will see after they have 'Liked' the page. It will appear above or below the form fields that you have set up.
Generally 810 pixel width works well, with a height between 300 and 650 pixels to avoid too much scrolling.
Post-Entry Page Image
The maximum width is 810 pixels, height is 1200 pixels, and file size is 400KB.
Between 200-800 pixels height works best.
Voucher Page Image - (Coupon, Instant win, Deals and Group deals Apps Only)
The maximum size that will be displayed within the offer is the same as all other pages, 810 pixels wide and 1200 pixels tall. Between 200-800 pixels height works best for viewing within the browser.
NOTE: The maximum image upload size is larger, however, in order to accomodate the need for high resolution images for printed coupons (e.g., retail coupons that need a scannable barcode); so the Voucher Page Image upload allows a maximum width of 8,000 pixels, height of 24,000 pixels, and file size up to 3MB.
Vote/Gallery Page Image - (Photo,Video, and UGC contests Only)
The maximum width is 810 pixels, height is 1200 pixels, and file size is 400KB.Between 200-400 pixels height generally works best.
There are two types of images that Facebook can use when sharing a link. The older format is a perfect square, and on desktop, generally shows up as 100px by 100px. However, Facebook requires you upload one at least 200px by 200px for this format since it shows up bigger on mobile.
The newer format gives you a lot more space on desktop – 400px wide by 209px tall by default. This is the newer format that they will probably use more often going forward.
Unfortunately, Facebook seems to choose arbitrarily which image size they will use, though if you upload one that's exactly 400px by 209px they will likely use the rectangular size. Our recommendation is to use that size, but choose an image that would look good even if they scale it down for some reason. The maximum specs are 810px by 1200px with 400KB file size.
Tab Image ( Facebook Contests Only)
The tab image/icon requirements are also determined by Facebook, so there are no official numbers. The size of the image, however, will always get scaled down to 111×74 so that is the size you should create it at.
Quiz Questions and Answers
Questions: Max: 355px wide, 1200px tall, 400kb
Answers: Recommended: 348px wide, 284px tall (Max: 810px wide, 1200px tall, 400kb)
Getting Around these Limits
While 810 pixels is the maximum width of the Facebook display, what if you want an image wider than that? Or taller than 1200 pixels, or larger than 400KB?
The solution is simple. First, you need to upload the image on a site such as imgur. Then, simply change the page type from Image to HTML, and use a short bit of code to display your image:
<img src="//yourwebsite.com/yourimage.jpg" alt="Image Description" width="100%">
You will want to put the "Direct Link" inside the quotation marks. Specifically you should ensure that it ends with JPG, PNG, GIF, or other file format instead of HTML so it will display properly.
